Hello, dear Greenfeet friends! May the grass be soft beneath your feet!
I'm very happy to deliver a new iteration of the alpha. I'm aware of all the remaining issues, and I'm focusing all my efforts on addressing them! I'd like to thank Tilou, who has invested around fifty hours in the game, reporting numerous bugs and feedback that will be incredibly helpful to me.
This week's build introduces two major changes.
First, the "Cut" and "Harvest" actions have been merged into a single action: "Gather." Many testers didn't understand the difference between the two actions and ended up stuck after cutting berry-producing bushes, as harvesting isn't supposed to destroy them. There was also confusion about why the "Remove" action didn't destroy natural obstacles like trees or plants. "Gather" now allows you to cut trees, collect berries, or harvest crops while preserving the plant whenever possible. It's the go-to action when you want to collect resources sustainably. The "Cut" action has been integrated into "Remove," which was previously used to destroy buildings or furniture.
The other major change is the addition of the "fuel" system. Furniture items like campfires now consume resources regularly. If they run out, the item becomes unusable. For instance, a campfire will no longer produce light or enable crafting when it's out of fuel.
Next week's focus will be on improving clarity. I plan to revisit the UI, add tooltips, and implement notifications to enhance the understanding of what's happening in the game.
Thank you for reading this post, and have a great week, everyone!
