Hello, dear Greenfeet friends! May the grass be soft beneath your feet!
Another late post, sorry about that!
A stable version update of the demo has been released since the last time I wrote here. You can find the changelog on Steam. It includes all the beta version patches that were published, so you'll see the topics discussed in previous weeks.
As for new features, aside from a few crashes that have been reported to me (and which I'll be fixing), I'm now fully focused on improving the research system. The goal is to simplify it as much as possible while keeping the core elements that make it interesting. Almost a year ago, I had theorized a system for combining elements two by two, before moving a bit away from that idea for various reasons. Well it was a poor choice, so now we're going back to the basics!
To simplify things: goodbye to the intimidating 3x3 furnishing research grid, which was perceived as too complex. Goodbye as well to the action sub-menus. Now, actions themselves are ingredients to be combined. This means the entire research system fits on a single screen. Here's a mockup of what it could look like (note: work in progress!).
I hope to deliver a first version of this new system on the beta branch soon—probably by the end of the month if all goes well!
Thank you for reading this post, and have a great week, everyone!
PS: don't forget you can wishlist Greenfeet Haven on Steam, so you don't miss when it's out!
