Weekly progress #67

Greenfeet Haven

Hello, dear Greenfeet friends! May the grass be soft beneath your feet!

Summer is now well underway, and as a result, my schedule has been disrupted. Unfortunately, I’ve made less progress than I had hoped on the planned tasks: many things are still a bit rough around the edges for the next update. Nonetheless, I’ve decided to publish the version on the beta branch for the curious. You’ll find the changelog at the end of the post.

The tutorial has been revised to work with the new research system, but it's incomplete and, for example, doesn't yet explain the new workstation tool system. There's also a missing feature that makes a workstation's appearance change based on the tool assigned to it. All of this is planned and will be included in the next update, before moving the beta version to the stable branch!

I took advantage of a bout of insomnia for a little nighttime session to implement a highly requested QoL feature: being able to switch between greenfeets via the interface (and even keyboard shortcuts!). Speaking of the keyboard, there's also a time-consuming feature in the beta that is currently completely invisible: the shortcut system has been refactored to prepare for the future settings menu that will allow players to customize them. A few hours of work that are an investment for the future!

As for the coming days, I’m going to take two full weeks of rest, a much-needed annual break to recharge and come back ready to go!
